We’re half way through second quarter already! We’re learning so much about each other and our work habits- and are already thinking about what we want to do for next year. I am starting to look at curriculum ideas for next year and even things to add to this year. I applied to test Time 4 Learning. They have a 30 day evaluation and I will write about it here. Disclosure below:
I’ve been invited to try Time4Learning for one month in exchange for a candid review. My opinion will be entirely my own, so be sure to come back and read about my experience. Time4Learning can be used as a homeschool curriculum, for afterschool enrichment and for summer skill sharpening. Find out how to write your own curriculum review for Time4Learning.
In Math, we’ve added a host of worksheets and I’m trying to incorporate more “real life” applications for Star Girl. Math is definitely not her favorite so I’m trying to find ways to keep her focused. She still likes the ITooch online app but I’m finding it to be less of a learning site and more to document what she knows. It is nice to know what she’s learned, but I am still seeking something to help her learn new skills as well. Perhaps the Time4Learning will provide that.
Language Arts continues to be a lot of fun. We started the quarter (this quarter focus in on Greece) with Aesop’s fables (free on Kindle!) and now we’re on to Greek Myths.
She’s reading Percy Jackson AGAIN (actually listening to the audio book this time) and I found some great teacher resources so she include this reading in her writing assignments and Lit Circles.
We also started a new Bible study that is geared toward middle school girls.
The second half of this quarter will be focused on planning her very own Greek Games. She will be responsible for all of the planning of events, food, invitations & prizes. She’s very excited about it– I just hope that we can pull off getting people there during this holiday season! Second quarter ends right before Christmas– we’ll have to hope for the best!
